How do we find the original context of a quotation? Sometimes a quotation is found with its author and text but, more specifically, how can we quickly understand the historical and/or circumstantial context out of which the quotation was created?
Thank you in advance for your responses!

Find the first use of the quote and that will determione the context.

Try the Oxford English Dictionary for starters.
