Who says all words of wisdom must come from someone who is dead, famous, or both.
I started this thread as a place for members to share quotes of their own creation.
So I will start with one I recently came up with.
"Half of wisdom and knowledge is accepting that which you do not wish to."

This is a bit of a proverb I came up with myself, it is some of my personal zen philosophy that I try to live by, granted I do not always scudeed, but I do try.
Fight fire with water
(of corse it is a play on the familair, fight fire with fire, but I often find that tact does not work but just adds fuel to the flame so to speak)

Thanks PowerPopAddict, that is a really good quote, ashamed to say it made me stop and think hard!

This is one i came up with earlier today. It plays with old Cliché's, but I added a little. I would not be surprised if some one else has said something similar to this, but if they have, don't get mad at me. i just don't bother with looking stuff up.
They say that to forgive is divine. Do I LOOK like God to you?
This was inspired by a line in some movie. it might have been van helsing, but they may have taken it from something else. It was "Forgiveness is between you and God. I just arrange the meeting." or something like that.

If seeing is believing, i'll need to look at you everyday.
Im saying it in a sense that since seeing is believing and to love is to live life. In order to live, i'll need to look at you to believe that love actually exists since you are my love.
Hope someone gets me and feel free to share your comments

[quote="imolital"]If seeing is believing, i'll need to look at you everyday.
This is just one mans opinion, and I may be wrong, but I don't see what that has to do with love. My first though was that this quote would translate to "You're untrustworthy, and I need to keep an eye on you." It's just that this quote doesn't SAY anything about love, literally or symbolically. I'm sure it would make sense in the middle of a speech, where the context guides its meaning, but as it stands (alone) it just doesn't make sense in the way that you explained it.

I disagree, when I first read this quote, even before reading the explination, I had the gist of what imolital was saying, and I think the quote can stand alone as a quote about love.

Good one. Read The Picture of Dorian Gray, it goes nicely with that quote.
Here's another one I thought of
Balance is just another word for war.
Should I leave it like that, or put war first, and balance second? The reason I ask is that with balance first, it suggests that "balance" is not really a good thing - its just another word for war. But if I say "war is just another word for balance (and that is the message that I'm actually trying to send) it means that war (weather symbolic or literal) is often necessary. But it SOUNDS better when I put "balance" in there first.
The logic behind this comparison to balance and war is that if you are not at war, then one side or another has won, and there is no balance. The two are interdependent upon one another.
