To me it means that knowlegde should not be for the general public, but only those you can truly understand, and only those that make the effort to uncover it should know of these things, but that they should not share it with anyone else, but rather should covit it, becasue the general mass is unwrothy.

If a person discoveres something, it should be theres alone, and not put upon display for the eyes of others.

You've almost got it, but you're kind of leaning in the wrong direction. The author is not saying that some people are just not worthy of wisdom. I think that he is saying that there is much to be learned by all; but only a precious few actually care to learn. In simple terms, he is saying that the you have to work for what you get. You will not become a Doctor just by watching medical shows. You will not become an architect by building forts out of pillows and blankets. If you are to gain any semblance knowledge, you have to want it. Aside from that, wisdom is open to all; no matter how "unworthy" they may seem.
