Can someone tell me who said this quote, - They wre human beings and they need my help." It was said by a Japanese Ambasdor in the begining of World War Two.

"They were human beings and they needed help. I'm glad I found the strength to make the decision to give it to them."

It is attributed to Chiune Sugihara, who the Japanese sent to Kovno, Lithuania to open a consulate there. He was responsible for saving many Jews' lives during WWII. It's an interesting story of one of the unsung heroes of the war:
