i think it's a "good one" but have no idea who say it.

The thought has probably been expressed many times, going back to the Bible. But one of the best-known modern expressions of it is in "The Second Coming" by Yeats:


Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;

Though I agree with Mr. Fussbudget that many "themes" of quotes can be found in a variety of sources.
