I thought it was in the front pages of "Bridges of Madison County" but I'm not sure....anymore. Does anyone know the quote, the author and what book it prefaced?

what do you think about it ? why doesnt he/she want to analyse if it is too close ? it reminded me "somewhere i've never travelled" the poem by e.e.cummings. he says there "i cant touch because they are too near" .. it means -in my opinion- he is afraid, but why.. i couldnt decide it.
