I'm looking for this quote, it goes something like, "Before you judge someone, you should always walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do judge them, they're a mile away and barefoot." And I have no idea who says it or if that's even how it goes. But I love that quote. Any ideas?

It's a pretty common Jack Handey-ism, but I'm not 100% sure he was the originator of it.

I usually hear it end with "they'll be a mile away and you'll have their shoes."

The "variation" of this is an unattributed joke that is all over the internet
I have absolutely no confidence that Handy had anything to do with it.

Before you criticize someone, make sure you've walked a mile in their shoes. That way, you're a mile away AND you have their shoes!
