For the life of me, I can't recall the participants in this event. Some French official was demanding that all US servicemen leave France. An American official quipped (someone suggested that it was LBJ)" do want us to remove all the serviceman who are buried in France as well?" (I'm paraphrasing here) Is there an online source that references this quote? Thanks in advance.

Actually, yes, there is, and it was not about the USA or LBJ.
It was Lester Pearson, Prime Minister of Canada, replying to
De Gaulle. I searched for this some time ago and was able to find it again.
Here is an excerpt:

[Lester "Mike"] Pearson’s second term as prime minister,
beginning in 1965, was not as productive as his first.
He got bogged down in relations with Quebec and with France itself.
When De Gaulle demanded removal of Canadian NATO
troops from French soil, Pearson asked pointedly whether
he was also expected to move the bodies of the 100,000 Canadians
who died fighting for France during World Wars I and II

Ottawa and as Canadian desk officer in the Department of State,
1947-1951. Ambassador Dale retired after thirty years in the
Foreign Service in 1975)
