I've seen Kurt Cobain, who was quoting Neil Young, credited with originating this line, but it was Neil Young:

Me, too. In fact, I was offended when I started hearing people link this line with Kurt Cobain, since I grew up on it.

Have we done favorite song lyrics here? We quote our favorites and see if anyone can guess the song and artist? I've seen song lyrics in the Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, so I guess they count as quotes.
