Hello
I am new to the site and am looking for the author of this quote. I can usually find quotes pretty easily, but this one is a toughy! If you know who said this quote, you must be a genius!

"Rock, unless it does something, is for all intents and purposes dead. There's a real disconnect between the music that people buy and who's doing it, which is to say, they're not stars. It's faceless. When the guy on stage looks worse than your garbage man, why would you want to go see him live?"

Thank you!

Several people have asked about this quote.
What is your source?

Something that is just receiving a signal is not doing information processing. The signal by itself is not information. The sun's rays on a rock are potential information for the rock, but we do not count the rock as processing that information unless it does something with that information. Information processing is extracting information from a signal and then using that information for some sort of computation.

I am in a public speaking class, and for extra credit our instructor gives us a few quotes each week to identify who said them. This is the first one I cannot find since I have been in the class. I guess it has everyone stumped. :?:

Based on a comprehensive search of the 'net and a couple of books, I can't find this one. Therefore I would guess one of three things has happened:

1. It's a recent quotation (from a rock musician?)

2. It's older and isn't online, or I haven't found it.

3. It's a misquote.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I really need some extra credit in my public speaking class (probably the same class as pepper23) and so I found this forum with everyone having trouble finding it and all the sudden, someone finds the answer randomly on the back of a pamphlet and passes it on for everyone else. Thanks yeppers. Life is good.
