Sucker implies there was a moment of hope. There was no hope only anticipation. I would consider it brave figuring how difficult it is to keep a computer running smoothly. To immediately reduce the effort or challenge to a situation highlighting a soul whose objective purpose was to expand his or her universe is atypical of this particular geographic areas limited cultural depth.
You are free to do what ever you may please, only limited by your willingness to be subject to the consequences. The price you are willing to pay is a direct relationship between you and who you want to be.
