All,
I am writing in hopes you can help me find and attribute a very butchered quote by my part. It goes something like this:
'No one gets any credit for preventing a fire'
The undertones of the quote are political (I believe) and would be something like this:
'In politics, no one gets any credit for preventing a fire, only for putting them out'
For the longest time I thought it was Barney Frank, who said this, but after trying to confirm this, I found no such quote attributed to him.
Finally, it is probably worth noting that the quote can be quite different than the above, I just remember how I interpreted it, i.e. it could go something like:
'You only get credit/glory for putting out a fire, not stopping one'
'There is no glory in preventing a fire.'
'Everyone wants to be a fire-fighter, but no one wants to prevent a fire'
Thanks in advanced for any help,
-Lost
