To the wise go the fair//
(then follows more, that I don't remember)
This ditty (including the Subject line)
would appear to describe the allocation of women to men according to the latter's accomplishments/virtues, whatever. It influenced me a great deal (I am male) when I was of military-service age, rather less these decades later when I have much more experience of the world (and a few of its women).
I haven't been able to find it anywhere - more elusive, even, than all those beautiful and fair women.
Could anyone (beautiful, fair, female, or otherwise) source it for me?
Thanks.
