Hey all,
Was it Susan Sontag that said "Life isn't the way it is supposed to be, it is the way it is. It's how you deal with it, that makes all the difference."

This is an abbreviated version of the quote: http://www.realsimple.com/realsimple/yo ... 52002.html
Abigail Cahill New Canaan, Connecticut "It's not what happens to you in life, it's how you deal with it." That was my mother's mantra, and she lived by it, surviving breast cancer, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and eight children. Her strength in overcoming adversity inspires my own life.

Here's the version that is the most common, and it is mostly found attributed to "unknown" or unattributed. A couple webpages say:

Life is not the way it is supposed to be.
It is the way it is.
The way you cope with it
is what makes the difference.
~(found attributed to) Virginia Satir

An extensive study of 1000 top business people on what they considered to be the characteristics of excellence revealed the following:
-Be enthusiastic
-Develop a positive attitude and plenty of self-confidence.
-Accept that life isn't the way it is supposed to be but it is the way it is!
-Be decisive, disciplined goal setters.
-Maintain a high level of integrity.
-Be persistent.
-Take risks.
-Develop a healthy lifestyle producing high levels of energy.
-Believe in a higher power.
-Develop a sense of personal purpose and a desire to contribute to the betterment of society.
