Hi, in yesterday's Telegraph GK crossword, the clue is " Most human beings have an ........... and infinite capacity for taking things for granted."
The word that is the word missing from the quote is A-S-L-T-

So I think the complete quotaion should be:
" Most human beings have an absolute and infinite capacity for taking things for granted" and not as is quoted in your example. ( Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.)
