This very famous quotation on Computer Science:

"The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from."

is attributed in Michael Moncur's (Cynical) Quotations to professor Andrew S. Tanenbaum, while Cole's credits Ken Olsen, founder of Digital Equipment Corp.

I'm sure I've seen it written in some book by Tanenbaum, but I would say that it should be attributed to Olsen.

This is not the first time that I see something like this happening with professor Tanenbaum, probably because his books are very popular among students.

He made famous another quotation in his 1996 edition of Computer Networks:

"Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes hurtling down the highway."

Maybe the sentence, as it is written above, belongs to Tanenbaum, but the basic idea needs to be attributed to Dennis Ritchie.
