Heh. Actually I remember when this report was released, my traffic literally tripled that day. (Still under 100 hits per day at the time, though.)
Wow, it's been almost 8 years. I can't pinpoint exactly when my site first went up, but I know it was up for a few months before it was announced in the Scout Report. My guess is August 1994.
Here's what The Quotations Page looked like in December of 1994:

Wow, now that I see the original, I remember seeing it "back then." Probably had it bookmarked on an early browser version, and it got lost in upgrades or computer switch. So when I stumbled across this site a year and a half ago, it was really a re-discovery of an old favorite.
Cool find, thenostromo, and thanks for the trip down memory lane, mgm. Sure shows how fast things change on the world wide web.

I redesigned the site sometime in 1996 and it looked <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/19991005031921/http://www.starlingtech.com/quotes/">something like this</a> for years, with minor changes here and there.
(That's an archived version from October 1999)
The current design was introduced in October 2000 along with the quotationspage.com domain name. The design hasn't changed too much since. I don't think it really looks "old" yet so it will probably be a while before I change the look. Not sure what I'll do when the menu on the left starts running out of room for new stuff, though.

When you start running out of room, you can go to a top nav bar with tabs. But I hope you're able to keep the current design for a while.
I checked out your 1996 re-design -- you really got in there early with Web design and had a cool look for '96. Amazing how fast the functional and aesthetic trends in Web sites change, isn't it? Things can be so "yesterday" or "so last century" within months of being "new."
It's a brave new world, but I kind of love it. I also love how the old verities surface after the flash of the new: the concepts of concise writing, simple design, less is more, etc.
